Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site, including with a screen reader, a keyboard, or other assistive technology.
Our goal
Salinas Pilots Association aims for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA (opens in a new tab) - the standard most widely used for accessible websites.
What we've done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are, and a "Skip to main content" link at the top.
- Pages have descriptive titles and headings, and work with screen readers - images have text descriptions, icons are hidden from them, and links that open a new tab say so.
- Text and buttons meet the contrast the guidelines call for, and the site works when zoomed in and on small phone screens.
- Animations are turned off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- We check the site with automated accessibility testing (axe) and by hand.
Known limitations
- Documents our officers upload, such as meeting minutes and forms, may not all be fully accessible. If you need one in another format, ask us and we'll provide it.
- Sites we link to, like AOPA or the FAA, are run by others and have their own accessibility.
- On narrow phone screens, the calendar shows only the start of each event's title - tap a day to list its events in full, or see the lists below the calendar on the Calendar page.
Tell us about a problem
